It Takes a Village
At Washatopia, we believe clean clothes and a warm place to sit can change someone's day. We show up for our neighbors — no questions asked.
More than a laundromat
We've always believed that a laundromat is more than a place to wash clothes — it's a gathering spot, a safe space, and sometimes a lifeline. Since we opened our doors in 2010, we've extended a helping hand to anyone who needed it when it was within our means.
We do laundry for our unhoused neighbors, free of charge. When the weather turns dangerous — extreme cold, storms, or heat — we open our doors as a warm, dry place to wait it out. No paperwork, no judgment, just a seat and some warmth.
For customers going through a hard time, we do what we can. Sometimes that's a free wash. Sometimes it's just listening, and sometimes its an electric bill. We're a family business, and we treat everyone who walks through that door like family.
“Clean clothes can change how someone feels about themselves. That matters. That's why we do this.”
— The Washatopia Family
How we show up
Small acts of kindness, done consistently, add up to something real.
Free Laundry for Those in Need
We regularly wash clothes for unhoused community members at no cost. Clean clothes restore dignity and open doors.
Inclement Weather Shelter
When conditions get dangerous outside, our doors stay open. Everyone deserves a safe, warm place to wait out the storm.
Support for Struggling Customers
If you're going through a rough patch, talk to us. We'll do what we can — quietly and without judgment.
Community First, Always
We're your neighbors. We live here too. Taking care of each other is just what neighbors do.
Want to help?
Every donation — big or small — goes directly toward free laundry services, supplies, and keeping our doors open for those who need it most. Detergent, gift cards, or a kind word all make a difference.
Stop by and ask for us — we'll put every contribution to work right here in the community.
